The Columbus Crew will be missing Milton Valenzuela for the season while Harrison Afful is also sidelined.

The LA Galaxy are expecting to be without midfielder Perry Kitchen and Romain Alessandrini with Julian Araujo listed as questionable.

The Columbus Crew's season keeps getting worse as they lost their fifth straight league game last weekend when they dropped a 3-1 away decision to DC United. It was their second league loss to United in the past two weeks after being shut out 1-0 at home the last time they met in late April. Columbus wasn't really in the game as they trailed 3-0 after an hour. However, they made things slightly interesting when DC were charged with an own goal with 15 minutes remaining. Columbus has managed just two goals in their last five league encounters and have been outscored 14-9 on the season. They now have four wins, a draw and six losses in the league, with three victories, a draw and two defeats coming at home.

The LA Galaxy saw their seven-match unbeaten streak in the league come to an end last weekend at six wins and a draw after being edged 3-2 away from home by the New York Red Bulls. LA trailed after 15 minutes, but goals from Uriel Antuna and Zlatan Ibrahimovic with his ninth of the season saw the Galaxy take a 2-1 lead into the half time break. However, the Red Bulls scored in the 59th and 67th minutes to take all three points. The Galaxy stay at 22 points from seven wins, a draw and just two defeats in league action while outscoring their opponents 17-11.

The LA Galaxy has lost just twice this year while the Columbus Crew has been beaten five times in a row. I'm expecting LA to take all three points.

The last six league meetings between the teams have seen 19 total goals scored for an average of 3.17 goals per game and with the LA Galaxy scoring at least two goals in eight of their ten league games I'm expecting at least three total goals here, too.

The LA Galaxy won last year's league meeting 4-0 at home and have three wins, two losses and two draws in the past seven league encounters.
