The Columbus Crew will be missing Milton Valenzuela for the season while Harrison Afful is out for at least another month.

DC United doesn't expect Oniel Fisher, Chris Odoi-Atsem, Antonio Bustamante, Joseph Mora and Chris McCann to play and Leonardo Jara is questionable.

Columbus Crew

Injured/unavailable: Milton Valenzuela (knee), Harrison Afful (jaw)

DC United

Injured/unavailable: Chris Odoi-Atsem (illness), Antonio Bustamante (leg), Oniel Fisher (knee), Joseph Mora (jaw), Chris McCann (hamstring)

The Columbus Crew dropped their second straight league match at the weekend after being downed 3-1 at home by the lowly Portland Timbers who won for the first time in the league this season. It was also the Crew's first home defeat in league action, having won three times and drawn once so far. Portland took a 2-0 lead into the dressing room at half time, but Pedro Santos made a game of it by scoring for the Crew in the 69th minute. However, they failed to complete the comeback by conceding again in the first minute of second-half injury time. Columbus falls to four wins, a draw and three defeats in the league with just eight goals scored in eight league games and eight given up as well.

DC United hosted New York City at the weekend with the league game finishing in a 2-0 loss. DC entered the league match with a win, loss and draw in their three previous three league games and now have 14 points on the season from four wins, two draws and two defeats while they are still in the battle for first place in the Eastern Conference. They are unbeaten on the road in league action with two wins and a draw for seven of nine points and have outscored their hosts 5-3. They were less than mediocre away from home in the league last year though with just one win and ten of 51 points to rank 17th on the road in the league.

The Columbus Crew is a streaky team, but since they are at home and have lost just twice to DC United in the last nine meetings in both league and playoffs. I think the teams will play to a draw, especially since DC hasn't lost in three away league trips this season.

The Columbus Crew hasn't scored often this season, but they have struck first in four of eight league games and three of five at home. I expect them to open the scoring.

DC United won 1-0 at home and the Columbus Crew were 3-1 victors at home in league action last year. They also met in the playoffs with Columbus winning 5-4 in a shootout after the teams played to a 1-1 draw in regular time, and 2-2 draw in extra time.
