MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

The Colorado Rapids have turned things around for the time being with three wins and a draw in the league, after going winless in the first 11 league outings with nine defeats and a pair of draws. Their latest triumph was a 3-1 home league win over Cincinnati FC last weekend. Andre Shinyashiki opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, but Cincinnati pulled level in the 72nd minute. Colorado responded with the winning goal by Nicolas Mezquida just 60 seconds later and Diego Rubio capped things off in the 82nd minute. The win enabled Colorado to climb out of last place in the league standings with 12 points and pass Cincinnati. However, they still sit in the basement of the Western Conference.

Minnesota Utd lost their second straight league game and allowed three goals for the second consecutive league match as they were edged 3-2 at home by the Philadelphia Union last weekend. It was also their first home defeat of the 2019 league campaign. They trailed 2-1 at half time against the Union with rookie Hassani Dotson scoring in the 28th minute. Kevin Molino then pulled Minnesota level in the 77th minute but they couldn't hold on for a point as the Union notched the winner in the 86th minute. Minnesota's league record is even at six wins, three draws and six losses with 23 goals scored and 24 allowed for 21 points, with nine of those coming on the road.

The Colorado Rapids are unbeaten in the last four league games and are at home to a team they have beaten twice in a row in league action. I expect the hosts to extend their streak with another win.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD – DRAW

Neither team has performed well early in games this league season as Minnesota Utd have led at half time in just three of 15 league matches and have been level seven times. The Colorado Rapids have led just twice in their 15 league games and the odds of this league match being level after 45 minutes look good to me.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Colorado Rapids won last year's league meetings 2-0 away and 3-2 at home. The teams have met just four times in the league with the Rapids winning two, losing one and drawing one.
