MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

The Chicago Fire held Los Angeles FC to a 0-0 league draw in Los Angeles last weekend, but they failed to score for the third consecutive league match which were all away from home. After two losses and a draw they returned home in midweek to host the New England Revolution in league action and finished the contest with a 5-0 win. The result puts the Fire at 13 points in the league as they battle for a spot in the top seven of the East in hopes of making the playoffs. They remain at home this weekend where they have earned 11 of a possible 18 points from three wins, two draws and one defeat in league action, with fourteen goals for and seven against.

Minnesota Utd is proving to be a tough team to beat this year. They are now undefeated in the last three league games with two ties and a win following their 1-1 home league draw with the Seattle Sounders last weekend. They have allowed just one goal against in those three league matches but have scored just twice themselves. Ike Opara gave Minnesota the lead in the 26th minute against the Seattle Sounders, but the visitors tied the score just before half time. Minnesota has 15 points in the league and remain in sixth place in the West.

Minnesota Utd have one of the better road records in the league at three wins and three defeats while the Chicago Fire has failed to score in three of their last four league matches. I'm expecting this league match to end in a draw.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – LOW

The Chicago Fire has been shut out in three of their last four league games and there have been only three total goals in Minnesota Utd’s last three league matches combined. I'm expecting no more than two total goals here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Minnesota Utd won 2-1 at home last year and 2-1 away in 2017 in the only two league encounters between the sides.
