Chicago Fire has listed Johan Kappelhof as a question mark with Jorge Luis Corrales as injured.

FC Cincinnati has listed Jimmy McLaughlin, Greg Garza and Fatai Alashe as injured with Fanendo Adi and Roland Lamah as question marks. They also signed defender Maikel van der Werff from Vitesse in Holland.

Chicago Fire

Suspended: Bastian Schweinsteiger

Doubtful: Johan Kappelhof (thigh)

Injured/unavailable: Jorge Luis Corrales (thigh)

FC Cincinnati

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Roland Lamah (hamstring), Fanendo Adi (leg)

Injured/unavailable: Greg Garza (calf), Fatai Alashe (hamstring), Jimmy McLaughlin (knee)

The Chicago Fire couldn't build on their surprising 5-1 home league win over Atlanta Utd in midweek as they were then blanked 1-0 away by Sporting Kansas City in the league on the weekend. They allowed the only goal of the league game in the 14th minute to remain winless on the road in the league in 2019 with three draws and seven defeats. Luckily they will be facing FC Cincinnati at home in the league this week.

FC Cincinnati took all three points against the visiting Houston Dynamo last weekend with an inspired 3-2 league triumph. It was much needed since they were trounced 7-1 in Minnesota Utd in the league the week before to suffer their sixth straight league loss. Kekuta Manneh, Rashawn Dally and Victor Ulloa gave Cincinnati a commanding 3-0 lead at the hour mark, but Houston came back with goals in the 79th and 81st minutes. However, the home side managed to hang on. It was Cincinnati's second victory in their past 15 league matches to accompany a dozen defeats and a draw.

This is a chance for the Chicago Fire to try and climb into the playoff race. They are facing the league's worst team and are at home - so there is no excuse for not taking all three points.

FC Cincinnati has led at half time in five of 19 league games and just once in 11 away league matches. The Chicago Fire has trailed just once at the break in ten home league games and I expect them to be in front after 45 minutes.

This will be the first league meeting between the teams.
