MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

The Chicago Fire picked up just one of a possible six points last week with a 2-2 home league draw against the Columbus Crew in midweek and a 2-0 loss away at the Philadelphia Union three nights later. They allowed goals in the 11th and 65th minutes last time out. The Fire has just one win overall in their past 11 league matches with six losses and four draws and occupy tenth place in the East. The playoffs are possible but not likely if they don't turn things around very soon and start earning more points.

DC United split their games last week with a 4-1 away league conquest against FC Cincinnati and then being shut out 2-0 in the league away at Atlanta Utd last weekend. Wayne Rooney didn't travel with the club to Atlanta and the squad missed him as they conceded two goals after the 87th minute. The loss to Atlanta saw DC United swap places with them in the Eastern standings as they fall to third position with 35 points. DC has just two wins in the past nine league matches with five draws and a pair of losses.

Neither side is in great form and with three of the last six league meetings ending in a draw I wouldn't be surprised to see another draw in this clash.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD – DRAW

DC United has been level in six of 11 away league games this year and trailed only once. I expect them to hold the Chicago Fire even after 45 minutes.

HEAD TO HEAD

The teams played to a 3-3 draw in Washington in May in league action. Both sides have won two and drawn three of their last seven league meetings.
