Chelsea: Many young players ( Recent Form: D D W D W )

While the competition scattered millions again in the last transfer period, Chelsea kept its hand on the mark this summer. Due to a transfer ban, the English were not allowed to attract new players this summer. To make matters worse, star player Eden Hazard opted for an adventure at Real Madrid, which means that the new coach Frank Lampard will have to do without real world class players this season. "Every disadvantage has its advantage," the late Johan Cruijff knew years ago, however. Since the Abramovic era, Chelsea has been known as a perky buying club, but now the London club is forced to appeal to its own youth. And it certainly does not do without merit. Mason Mount is already an essential part of The Blues, and Tammy Abraham in particular is an outright sensation. The draws at home against Leicester City (1-1) and Sheffield United (2-2) were of course a disappointment, but last weekend the youngsters from Lampard showed what they are capable of with Wolverhampton Wanderers with no less than 2 -5 to roll up. Abraham in particular had a hat-trick on his hips, and with seven goals he can call himself a top scorer of the Premier League. Can he also take his excellent form to the Champions League?

Valencia: Crisis with the Spaniards ( Recent Form: D D L W L )

Unlike Chelsea, Valencia had a disastrous dress rehearsal at its first Champions League game of the season last weekend. Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen had to fish five times in the hopeless 5-2 defeat visiting FC Barcelona. The club from the orange city probably shivered after the surprising resignation of trainer Marcelino of a few days earlier, who, after disagreement with chairman Peter Lim, was able to grab his rush. The fans totally disagreed with this and some players also expressed criticism after finishing in deserving fourth place in La Liga and winning the Copa del Rey. So successor Albert Celades had a false start. He doesn't end up in a staggered bed in the Mestalla, because it is not easy to follow such a popular coach. In addition, there are doubts as to whether he is the right man to be at the helm at Valencia, since as the person ultimately responsible, he has only gained experience with a few Spanish youth teams. Celades therefore quickly needs some good results to dispel all doubts and to silence the many critics. At the moment, however, the Valencia supporters and the football press are still furious about the (in their eyes) unjustified dismissal of Marcelino. The players are no longer talking to the press, hoping that the crisis will not get out of hand. The atmosphere in Valencia is therefore bad.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

After all, the strength of the team being led by coach Albert Celades is not very good and compared to a rejuvenating Chelsea, they are still underestimated. Visitors to Stamford Bridge this time, "Bats" are expected to face many difficulties when their domestic league performance is not good. Most likely Valencia will lose in the opening match on English soil.
