Chapecoense travelled all the way to Goias for their league contest last time out and lost 3-1. They have now failed to win six of the last seven rounds, having drawn one and lost five, and are at the brink of sliding into the relegation zone – where they spent most of last season.

Fluminense hosted Flamengo in a fierce local derby in the league last weekend and drew 0-0. It was the sixth time they haven’t registered a win in league action this season, but the result also presented their very first league draw, having won twice and lost five times. The draw should not be seen as a negative result, considering the great gulf between the two sides here, with Flamengo sitting in the top six as opposed to Fluminense who are threatened by relegation.

This is a matchup between two sides in bad form, but Fluminense have been playing better recently and certainly have better players who can make a difference in a league clash like this. In contrast, Chapecoense have been playing badly and have failed to win three out of their four home league games this season (one draw, two losses). I will go for the away win.

Just two of Fluminense’s last seven league matches has featured fewer than three total goals while all of Chapecoense’s last five league games have been high-scoring affairs, too. Expect more of the same here.

Fluminense won both league meetings against Chapecoense last term - 3-1 at home and 2-1 away.
