Canada: Lack of sharpness ( Recent Form: W W W D W )

Canada is seen as the largest country in their group at the 2019 world championship. Canadians are currently in fifth place in the world ranking. Yet the results at the world championships are often disappointing. Big Red has never moved beyond the quarterfinals and that is quite remarkable for a team with that status. That quarter-final was reached in 2015, when the Canadians were also in their own country in the group with New Zealand and the Netherlands. A draw was made against both teams at the time, so to conclude that the upcoming game will be a piece of cake for Canada is a bit too early. Canada did not convince against Cameroon either. In Montpellier a boring competition was presented to the ten thousand spectators. It already started with a sloppy opening phase, in which Christine Sinclair of Portland Thorns caused the greatest danger. Halfway through the first half the opponent seemed to get in more, but due to the level difference (in favor of Canada) it did not offer any big chances. It was Kadeishi Buchanan who decided the game in favor of the Canadians on the stroke of half-time. After 90 minutes of play there was 1-0 on the scoreboard. With 75% possession, Canada did not do enough with the chances they had. There were too many attempts that missed the target.

New Zealand: Solid defense ( Recent Form: L W W L L )

It is time for New Zealand to survive the group phase. Maybe that is a little too high, but the players from the Oceanian country crave a victory. It is now the fifth world championship in which New Zealand participates and of the twelve games they did not win one. Still, there are opportunities for Tom Sermanni's team. Although Canada and the Netherlands can already qualify on Saturday, there is also a rule that the best number 3s go through to the knockout phase. If Football Ferns catches at least one point on Saturday, it has good papers in its pocket and it still has everything in its own hands against Cameroon. But does New Zealand have anything to do in the knockout phase? It has proven to be a difficult team to beat. "The Netherlands would just beat New Zealand for a while" it sounded in the Dutch popular mouth. Still it was a bit shocked when it was still 0-0 a few minutes before the end. New Zealand turned out to be a stiff team and had a very strong defensive position. The ball was in favor of the Netherlands, but the odds of New Zealand were at least as great. The bar was hit and the Dutch goalkeeper made some surprisingly good saves. The counters were perilous, but the game still seemed to end in 0-0. Out of nowhere, the Orange team started and scored the deciding goal.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

After all, on June 12 four years ago, right in Canada, New Zealand women held the home team of the Women's World Cup 2015 with a score of 0-0. And also with the team that is not disturbed at the moment, the ability of Tony Readings' teachers and coaches to continue to cause difficulties for Canadian women is not surprising, especially after seeing what Canadian women show in the opening match relatively faded.
