Australia A-League -- Brisbane Roar VS Wellington Phoenix

Henrique limped out of Brisbane Roar’s 4-1 league loss at Melbourne City in the last round and will likely miss, along with defender Ruon Tongyik who picked up a soft tissue injury.

Wellington Phoenix have no fresh selection concerns.

Brisbane Roar

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Ruon Tongyik (soft tissue), Henrique (groin)

Injured/unavailable: Brett Holman, Luke DeVere (both knee); Tobias Mikkelsen, Stefan Mauk (both groin); Jack Hingert (anterior cruciate ligament), Connor O’Toole (leg), Dane Ingham (foot)

Wellington Phoenix

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Louis Fenton (toe), Tom Doyle (quad), Justin Gulley (quad)

Ninth-placed Brisbane Roar appear to be a side who cannot wait for the season to end, having lost their past four league matches and with enough breathing space from the last-placed Central Coast Mariners to know they are safe from the wooden spoon. Two of their three league wins this season have been at home, which gives them some hope ahead of this league fixture.

Fourth-placed Wellington Phoenix’s 3-1 loss in Adelaide in the last round means their battle to seal a top four spot, and subsequent home final, goes on, with both sides now even on points. Wellington had won three league contests in a row, prior to their loss to the Reds. They have only won three of their 11 away league games this season, along with five draws and three losses.

Despite Wellington Phoenix’s poor away record in league action, they have got too much to play for in comparison to Brisbane Roar. I’m backing the visitors.

Brisbane Roar are officially the worst first-half side in the Australian top flight, having trailed 14 times at the break in their 24 league matches. In comparison, Wellington Phoenix are ranked third in the opening 45 minutes, so I’m backing them to lead at half time.

Wellington Phoenix are unbeaten in their past five league clashes with Brisbane Roar, although only one of those – the most recent one – was actually a Wellington victory, with the other four ending in draws.
