TEAM NEWS

Roar skipper Tom Aldred will miss for an accumulation of yellow cards. Defender Scott Neville is in doubt for Brisbane after being replaced early in the 2-2 draw with Melbourne City last round with injury.

Forward David Ball is a chance to return for Wellington following a hip flexor complaint.

Brisbane Roar

Suspended: Tom Aldred

Doubtful: Scott Neville

Injured/unavailable: Connor O’Toole, Aiden O’Neill (all international duty), Jordan Courtney-Perkins (knee)

Wellington Phoenix

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: David Ball (hip), Louis Fenton (shoulder), Alex Rufer (knee), Rene Piscopo (international duty)

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Robbie Fowler’s ninth-placed Brisbane are unbeaten in their past three matches, moving them off the foot of the table and within two points of the top six. Bradden Inman has been their spark with four goals in three games. Roar have won two of their five home league matches this season.

Fourth-placed Wellington have enjoyed their own undefeated streak, going nine games without a loss to surge up the ladder from bottom spot. Brisbane will be looking to replicate their run buoyed by their recent form. Phoenix have managed eight points from six away games this term.

Phoenix’s form is solid but I’m not convinced about their ability to win on the road yet. I’ll opt for a draw.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD - DRAW

Brisbane finally scored some first-half goals at home last round, netting their first two at home in the league for the campaign. But it’s a bad record. Wellington have only managed three goals in the opening 45 in their six away league games this term, so I’ll back scores to be locked at half-time here, likely 0-0.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The home side has won the past three meetings between these clubs. Brisbane have only won once in their past seven encounters. Phoenix last won in Brisbane in February 2017.
