MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Brentford have been on a mini revival recently, unbeaten in their last four league matches. The Bees have struggled under Thomas Frank, but things are starting to look up for the London club. Since beating Bolton 1-0 at Griffin Park a few days before Christmas, the Bees have drawn their last three in league action, including a 1-1 draw at home against second placed Norwich in their most recent league fixture. Last weekend, meanwhile, Brentford beat third tier side Oxford Utd 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup, advancing to the next stage of the competition.

Stoke have been on a poor run recently as they have accumulated just one point from a possible nine in league action. After losing 2-0 to Birmingham at St Andrew’s and drawing 0-0 at struggling Bolton, the Potters were beaten 2-0 by Bristol City at the bet365 Stadium in their last league outing. Meanwhile, the club were held to a 1-1 draw by third division side Shrewsbury in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend, with a replay scheduled next week. Stoke City have terminated the contract of manager Gary Rowett and appointed Luton boss Nathan Jones as new manager.

Neither side go into this one in particularly good shape, though Brentford have shown signs of life of late. With that in mind, back a narrow home win in this one.

SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE – 1-0

Brentford’s last two league and cup wins have both been 1-0 successes while Stoke have failed to find the net in their last three league matches. My money is going on another 1-0 Brentford victory this weekend.

HEAD TO HEAD

Back in August, the pair played out a 1-1 draw at the bet365 Stadium. That was their only league meeting in the last 17 years.
