Brentford’s Luke Daniels continued in goal at the weekend, with Daniel Bentley still a doubt. Rico Henry started the league game against Derby after recovering from his injury. Yoann Barbet and Lewis MacLeod are out.

Teddy Bishop and James Collins featured for Ipswich in the last round after returning to training, but Will Keane was not included in the squad. Jon Nolan suffered an Achilles injury in round 39 and has not featured since.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Daniel Bentley (shoulder)

Injured/unavailable: Yoann Barbet (ankle), Lewis MacLeod (hamstring)

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Will Keane (hamstring), Jon Nolan (Achilles)

Injured/unavailable: Jack Lankester (back), Ben Folami (Achilles), Tom Adeyemi (hamstring), Grant Ward (knee); Ben Morris, Freddie Sears, Jonathan Walters (all cruciate ligament)

Brentford’s 3-3 league draw at home against Derby at the weekend was proof of the team’s determination and character as they came from behind to equalise three times. However, the fact that they have conceded six goals in their last two league outings (one draw, one loss) and have not won in their last five league matches (two draws, three defeats) will be a worry. Thomas Frank’s men have been strong at home in the current league campaign though, boasting the fourth best record and collecting 20 points from the last 27 on offer on their own turf in league action.

Rooted to the bottom of the league table, Ipswich are 13 points from safety with only six league matches to go. A drop to England’s third tier now appears unavoidable at this stage of the campaign, even though the Tractor Boys are coming off a rare 2-1 win away at fellow strugglers Bolton, who are dealing with problems both on and off the pitch. With only four league wins to their name this season and Paul Lampert’s men set to face more difficult opponents over the upcoming month, the future looks grim for the club.

Brentford have the perfect opportunity to demonstrate their home dominance in this league matchup against the worst side in the English second division. Ipswich may be feeling a little more hopeful after last weekend’s win, but I think expect them to return to their usual losing ways.

Four of the last five league meetings between these sides have featured exactly two total goals. Expect a repeat of that pattern.

None of the last five league encounters have been won by the respective away side. Brentford have registered two and Ipswich one home win during that time, while there have been two draws, too.
