Christian Eggen Rismark is Brann’s only doubt ahead of this league match. The defender is struggling with sickness. Ludcinio Marengo is set to miss this league game with a knee problem.

Valerenga are without Peter Godly Michael, who has an injury concern.

Brann suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat away against their west coast rivals Viking in last weekend’s league fixture. It was the Bergen club that dominated the league match but ultimately couldn’t break through Viking’s stubborn resistance. However, the hosts twice hit the visitors on the break in the second half, with Kristian Thorstvedt and YlIdren Ibrahimaj slotting home decisively to secure the win. Brann pulled back a late goal through Fredrik Haugen as the league match became more heated, but it was too little too late. The Bergen club have now won just one of their opening four league matches (one draw, two losses) while their defence looks far from stable. They have conceded seven times already this season.

Valerenga bulldozed their way past a weak Tromso side in their most recent league game in week three, winning 4-1. Barde Finne, Chidera Ejuke, Herolind Shala and an own goal from Simen Wangberg ensured all three points for the Oslo club. Ejuke’s goal was particularly special: Faced by two Tromso defenders the young Nigerian shaped to go past one and darted past both of them, before using his trickery and skill to round the opposition’s goalkeeper and slot home. However, Ronny Deila’s side have lost both of their away league fixtures this season and that is a problem as they head to Bergen to play a Brann side desperate to kick-start their campaign.

Valerenga’s away record in the league is poor, with their most recent away win dating back to early September in last year’s league campaign. Brann are undefeated in nine of their last ten home matches in the league (six wins, three draws), stretching back to 2018. I will predict a home win.

Even though I think Brann will win this league game it is worth bearing in mind that the last two league meetings against Valerenga in Bergen have ended 0-0. I expect another low-scoring league match this time.

Brann haven’t beaten Valerenga since their 4-1 home win in the league in 2016, a run of five matches that contained three home wins for Valerenga and two draws in Bergen.
