MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Bolton have given themselves a fighting chance for survival after an excellent 2-1 league win at QPR last weekend. Prior to that vital victory at Loftus Road, the Trotters had lost five and won only one of their previous six league fixtures. Wanderers are still in trouble, though, with the club five points adrift of safety with just seven league games to play. Meanwhile, Bolton have the worst home record in the league, picking up just four wins at the University of Bolton Stadium all season, along with four draws and 11 losses.

While Bolton still have a chance, Ipswich are well and truly doomed. The Tractor Boys, who have won only three times in the league this term, are 13 points from safety with just a handful of league matches left. After drawing three league games on the spin, Town crashed to a damaging 2-0 defeat to Hull City at Portman Road last time out. Ipswich have won just once on the road in league action this term, with that sole away victory coming at Swansea (3-2) back in October.

Both clubs look destined to be in England’s third division next season, but I can see Bolton securing a rare home league victory this weekend. It could be close but put your money on the hosts to prevail.

SECOND PREDICTION: ODD/EVEN – ODD

All eight of Bolton’s league wins this term have been by a one-goal margin. Have a punt on odd total goals to be scored in this league fixture.

HEAD TO HEAD

Three of the last four league meetings between Bolton and Ipswich have ended in draws, with Ipswich registering a victory in the other one. Meanwhile, the Trotters have not beaten the Tractor Boys in league action since 2002.
