Having lost five league matches in a row, Birmingham are living dangerously close to the edge, with City now only five points ahead of the bottom three. Last time out, Blues were on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller against West Bromwich at The Hawthorns, going on to lose 3-2. Birmingham, who were recently deducted nine points for breaching FA rules, have taken one point from their last four league matches at St Andrew’s.

Leeds moved back into the top two with an enthralling 3-2 win over rivals Millwall at Elland Road last weekend. United fell behind twice, but Pablo Hernandez’s second goal of the game with seven minutes left gave the Whites a priceless victory. Leeds make the trip to Birmingham having won six and lost two of their last eight league fixtures. Meanwhile, only Norwich (40) and West Bromwich (36) have picked up more away points in the league than Leeds (34) thus far.

Birmingham need to get their act together fast, but I can see them falling to another defeat this weekend. High-flying Leeds should be too strong for struggling Blues – back the away win.

Leeds have kept clean sheets in their last two away league games, picking up six points from trips to Bristol City (1-0) and Reading (3-0). Marcelo Bielsa’s boys were ahead at half time in both of those, and I’m backing United to win the first half of this one.

Birmingham have won four while Leeds have picked up three wins from the last seven league meetings. City left Elland Road with a 2-1 league victory back in September.
