MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Having gone five league games without a win (three draws, two losses), Birmingham have now won back-to-back league matches for the first time since late December. Blues beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at home before winning 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at QPR last weekend. Birmingham are hot on the heels of the top six, currently sitting in eighth on 46 points.

Bolton fell to yet another damaging defeat last weekend as Phil Parkinson’s side were beaten 2-1 at home by Preston. That defeat was Wanderers’ 18th league loss of the campaign. Bolton, who have picked up just five league wins all season, are four points adrift of safety in 23rd with just 15 league games to go.

Birmingham have been strong at home in recent months, winning six of their past ten league fixtures at St Andrew’s, along with two draws and only two defeats. Meanwhile, Bolton have secured just two away league wins this term, drawing four and losing nine. I fancy Birmingham to claim a routine home victory in midweek.

SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE – 2-0

Birmingham have kept clean sheets in each of their last three wins at St Andrew’s, with two of those ending in 2-0 scorelines. Back the hosts to win 2-0 again here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Six of the last seven league meetings between Birmingham and Bolton have ended in 1-0 scorelines, with Blues winning four of those and the Trotters picking up two victories. The other league encounter ended goalless.
