MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Barnsley were denied a point on the road against Bristol City as Niclas Eliasson’s 87th-minute strike condemned Tuesday night’s hosts to a 1-0 away defeat. Defeat for Wigan meant that Gerhard Struber’s men remain in 22nd place ahead of their midweek game. Barnsley are unbeaten in their last five league matches at Oakwell.

Preston turned around an early 1-0 deficit on the weekend against Charlton thanks to goals from attacking midfielder Josh Harrop and centre-back Patrick Bauer. The victory ended a run of five Championship matches without a win and means that Preston travel to Yorkshire in ninth place, one point off the play-off places.

Barnsley were unfortunate to taste defeat against Bristol City and should do better here. I expect them to pick up a point on Tuesday night.

SECOND PREDICTION: ODD/EVEN – EVEN

18 of Barnsley’s 28 Championship matches this season have produced an even total number of goals – the highest in the division, while Preston rank the fourth highest with 15. Preston have drawn their last three away Championship matches.

HEAD TO HEAD

Four of the last six league meetings between the two sides have ended as a draw.
