Still with three players in their medical department, Avai come to this match with the same names they had available last round.

Botaofogo will have one small change, as left back Gilson is returning from suspension and is available to play.

With five draws and seven losses in the first 12 rounds, Avai are still looking for their first win in the league this season and because of that they are placed at the bottom of the standings and even though their defense hasn’t been that bad – they have the fewest goals allowed from the 14th to the 20th places – it’s their attack that hasn’t been working.

They scored in their last weekend match, though, when they visited the Santos, and lost 3-1, and even showed some quality during a portion of the game in which they got the leaders in trouble. They played five times at home in league this year and scored only twice, with three of those matches ending goalless.

Luckily for Avai, Botafogo have also been living a terrible moment and failed to win all their last four league games, having scored in only one of them – last weekend’s 3-2 derby loss to Flamengo in which they were the visitors. As these two attacks face each other, I don’t see much happening during the game and expect it to end in a draw.

As seen before, Avai have one of the worst defenses in the league, with only five goals scored so far, having finished three of their five home matches 0-0, and with Botafogo’s recent offensive form that failed to score in three of their four most recent games, this game should end goalless too.

With their last two encounters in 2017 – and the only two times they faced each other since 2011 –, Botafogo will try to beat Avai for the first time in eight years, as these two recent matches ended 1-1 and 2-0 to Avai.
