Bielefeld's Max Christiansen has informed the club he would like a transfer; he has been excused from training.

St. Pauli trainer Jos Luhukay is running thin in attack due to injuries to Henk Veerman and Borys Taschy, leaving Dimitros Diamantakos as the lone available striker.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Max Christiansen, Cerruti Siya, Semir Ucar

Injured/unavailable: Joey Breitfeld (knee), Lucas Galvao (ankle), Frederic Ananou (shoulder)

Injured/unavailable: Henk Veerman, Borys Taschy (hamstring), Philipp Ziereis, Luca Zander, Johannes Flum, Rico Benatelli

Bielefeld took points in eight of their last nine league matches last season to move from being just above the relegation fight to being just below the promotion fight. Powered by strike tandem Andreas Voglsammer and Fabian Klos, Bielefeld was not held scoreless once in their final 20 league matches of the season. Uwe Neuhaus’ team continued to roll during summer test-match season, scoring twice each against Verl, Barnsley, Norwich, and Uerdingen.

St. Pauli lost six of their final ten league matches last season to drop into the middle of the table in a season that had started with hopes of promotion. During the summer, St. Pauli had a decisive win over former league rival FC Ingolstadt and drew with Dutch side Heerenveen.

With Jos Luhukay still working on installing his philosophy with the team and starting the season with few healthy options at striker, expect Bielefeld to have the home win with their healthy attack.

I like this pick based as much on Bielefeld’s fine strike options as on the fact St. Pauli has a deficit in that area. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bielefeld is the only team to score Monday night, so of course they’ll score first also.

St. Pauli has beaten Bielefeld 3 times and lost once in last six encounters. They’ve drawn two times.
