AFC Eskilstuna could be without influential striker Denni Avdic as well as defenders Jesper Bjorkman and Jose Leon.

Ostersunds left back Marco Weymans and midfielder Simon Kroon are back in training after missing the first month of the league campaign. However, they are not likely to be in the match squad for this league game.

AFC Eskilstuna go into this league game having lost 3-1 away to Hammarby in the league at the week. They have so far played far better than they did the last time they were in the top flight two years ago when they finished at the bottom of the table. So far, they have accumulated four points from their first four league matches. There are some concerns for manager Nemanja Miljanovic as striker Denni Avdic as well as defenders Jesper Bjorkman and Jose Leon could all miss this league game through injuries. Losing Avdic would be a particular blow as the veteran has been instrumental to the way the team play so far this season. Being without two of their regular starters in the back three is hardly ideal either. It remains to be seen how Miljanovic solves the problems with the starting XI.

Ostersunds were unlucky to draw 1-1 at home to Elfsborg in the league at the weekend. Their opponents’ goal was preceded by a situation where Ostersunds’ midfielder Ravel Morrison should have been awarded a free kick, and in stoppage time striker Jamie Hopcutt had a great chance to score the winner but mis-kicked his shot. The league game was played with a high tempo, with chances at both ends of the pitch and tough challenges. Ostersunds have had a solid but unspectacular start to the season so far with two draws, one win and a loss. In all league games except their 2-0 away loss to Malmo earlier this month, they have played well and defended solidly, but they have not managed to score from their chances. Only four goals from four league games tells as much. However, Morrison is getting fitter while Hosam Aiesh and Dino Islamovic have been in good form, so the feeling is that they will produce more goals eventually.

Ostersunds look like they are slowly improving, with manager Ian Burchnall starting to find his best XI. With all key players available they should prove too strong for a AFC Eskilstuna team, who are potentially without three key players.

There have been under 2.5 total goals in three of Ostersunds’ four league matches this season and they have scored an average of only one league goal so far, having failed to score away from home. I expect a low-scoring affair.

Ostersunds have won all of their last four league meetings against AFC Eskilstuna.
