MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

The Hawthorns was a fortress for West Brom last season; only Derby County (3) lost fewer games on home turf than the Baggies (4), who scored an outstanding 53 goals in front of their own fans – an average of 2.3 goals per game. Couple that with an impressive 2-1 away win against a strong Nottingham Forest outfit on the opening day of the season and some impressive debut performances from the likes of Filip Krovinovic and Semi Ajayi and there are plenty of reasons to back the hosts here.

Millwall enjoyed an impress opening day themselves as they edged past Preston in front of an expectant home crowd. However, Preston looked uninspired going forward and the Millwall back line was rarely tested by a Lilywhites front four that looked bereft of ideas and produced just one shot on target, so it’s important we reserve judgement on Neil Harris’ men until they come up against more talented opposition. Only seven teams conceded more than Millwall on the road last season (37) and coming up against such a threatening West Brom attack, it’s hard to envisage anything other than a West Brom victory this weekend.

SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE – 2-0

The last two times these two sides have met the final score line has been 2-0 and this match could see that record extend. West Brom impressed on the opening day and scoring an average of 1.89 goals per league games last season.

HEAD TO HEAD

Millwall and West Brom have met just two times in league fixtures after 2004, each team had a home win in the league encounter last season.
