Necaxa claimed a 2-1 win in a league match away against Guadalajara last weekend. Maximiliano Salas netted the opener and Felipe Gallegos doubled the lead 30 minutes later. Dieter Villalpando struck for the hosts in the 65th minute but Necaxa held on for the three points. With the win, Guillermo Vazquez’s side climbed to fifth place in the league table.

Toluca claimed their first win of the Apertura campaign last weekend, as they secured a 2-0 home win against Tijuana. Diego Braghieri conceded an own goal for the visiting side after seven minutes and Alexis Canelo extended the lead for the hosts in the second half. With the win, Toluca climbed to 16th place in the table. The club has registered one win, one draw and four losses in the league this season.

Given Toluca’s inconsistent form so far this season, I am picking Necaxa to secure the win in this upcoming league fixture. With the home advantage, Vazquez’s side should have the confidence to press forward and take all three points from this encounter.

So far in the Apertura league stage, Necaxa have scored the opening goal in two of their three home games. In contrast, Toluca have conceded the opening goal in all of their away games this term. Given that record, I am picking Necaxa to net the opener in this contest.

Toluca have won one and drawn three of their past four league meetings against Necaxa. Both sides played to a 1-1 draw when the teams last faced in the league in March.
