MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

The Colorado Rapids fought back from a 2-0 deficit at home to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the league last weekend, but ultimately shot themselves in the foot and were edged 3-2. It was the first league game in charge for new manager Conor Casey after Anthony Hudson was sacked and they remain the only winless team in the league in 2019, having drawn two and lost eight of their ten league contests. Vancouver jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 26 minutes, but Kei Kamara converted a pair of penalty kicks to level the score after 53 minutes and now has seven goals on the season. The Rapids' Diego Rubio was then sent off with a straight red card in the 77th minute and Vancouver made them pay for with a final goal in the 87th minute. Colorado is stuck at two points on the year and reside in the basement of the Western Conference and league. Both of their points came at home with a pair of draws.

Real Salt Lake were edged 2-1 for the second straight week in the league as they came out on the wrong end of a decision at home to the Portland Timbers following an away league defeat to the LA Galaxy a week earlier. Albert Rusnak had a chance to give Real the lead at the 26 minute mark, but his penalty kick was saved. Portland took the lead in the 34th minute but Sam Johnson managed to level the game in the 62nd minute. The home side failed to hang on though and conceded the winner with 22 minutes remaining. Real Salt Lake stays at just ten points in the league from three wins, a draw and six losses and have been outscored 18-12. Their away mark is a win, a draw and four losses in league action, with six goals scored and 11 conceded.

Real Salt Lake dominated the Colorado Rapids last year and with the hosts still being winless in the league in 2019 I'm going to back an away win.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

The teams combined for 13 goals in three league encounters in 2018 for 4.33 total goals on average. I expect at least three total goals in this clash, especially with the Colorado Rapids conceding 27 times in ten league games so far.

HEAD TO HEAD

Real Salt Lake went unbeaten in three league meetings last year with a 6-0 away win and a 3-0 win and 2-2 draw at home.
