Almere City’s Niek Vossebelt is suspended and four players are sidelined. Moustapha Seck is expected to be able to play.

Cambuur are without Jordy van Deelen and Sam Hendriks. Goalkeeper Xavier Mous sat on the bench last time out and is a doubt here. Pieter Bos filled in for him.

Almere City

Suspended: Niek Vossebelt

Doubtful: None

Injured/Unavailable: Ilias Alhaft, Tim Receveur (both torn knee ligaments); Ricardo Kip (hamstring), Joshua Smits (unspecified)

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Xavier Mous (thigh)

Injured/Unavailable: Jordy van Deele, Sam Hendriks (both torn knee ligaments)

The first leg of the first round playoff tie between these sides ended in a 2-2 draw at Cambuur, with Almere City looking comfortably better. Anwar Bensabouh had put them 1-0 ahead in the 16th minute, but Emmanuel Mbende equalised for Cambuur 40 minutes into the match. The visitors then took the lead again as Stijn Meijer scored in the 61st minute before Cambuur’s Andrejs Ciganiks netted the fourth goal of the game.

Almere City finished their regular season in excellent form when it comes to their home results, winning the last five on the bounce, as well as seven of the last eight – losing just once. Cambuur have failed to win their last three regular away league games, taking two points along the way and conceding a worrying eight goals.

Almere City also won their two regular league meetings with Cambuur this season. I expect them to continue their excellent home form and to register a win - which means they will be through to the second round.

Cambuur have scored in 12 of their last 13 regular away league games and they will likely bag a goal again here. Almere City have scored exactly three goals in three of their last five home league wins and have conceded exactly one goal in two of their last three home league victories. I’m going with a 3-1 win for the hosts.

Almere City are unbeaten in their last three meetings in both regular league action and playoffs, winning two and drawing one.
